The Victoria Chronicles - Pt II...... that means double the BRRRRRRR....

The Next few days we spent in Melbourne, and really, were probably a bit lazy in our sightseeing.  It was an unavoidable reaction to being back in soft beds and heated rooms!  A brief pictorial summary of our activities.....
Melbourne Museum, where we saw
 Phar Lap
 some dinosaur bones,
 Some cool mirrors
 And more mirror effects

Then onto my friend Karen's place, where I found out that Wii is not my friend.  In fact, I think it deliberately sets out to make me look like a putz.....
.... and J fell in love with Karen's dog Benny - who is very lovable, not to mention patient!
We played on playgrounds too  :)

Saturday night, I headed out on the town with the bestie from uni days, and left Pete and the kids with the Wii and Foxtel Premium....
I even managed to get a dance in!  :-)  I have missed the dancing.....
Pete and Mitchell did go to a footy match on Sunday - St Kilda V Hawthorn - but it was obviously not worth the effort of going, as the wrong team won.  And they didn't take a camera. Still in Melbourne, we embarked on a day trip......

DAY 22 (16th May): A day trip to Phillip Island.  Lovely place.  AND there were BIG THINGS to be found and photographed!!

Not on Phillip Island, but on the way,  and not yet on the list of Big Things on the net!  The big Dolphin Fish.....
 The Big Wave, in Newhaven
The koala sanctuary on the island had these signs..... "Don't spit chopsticks at the koalas"  or was it "Don't open your mouth or the koala ninjas with throw chopsticks at you"?
The only one that didn't have its nose hidden in its chest!  He was watching me, so I kept my chopsticks hidden.
 The Big Koala, at Cowes
Pete, ah, Milking? the Big Cows at Newhaven
A chocolate David.  Thats not a mint leaf.....  :-)

Nom-nom-nom.....

 i believe them....

The "big Tap" at Cowes
We also went and watched the penguins in the evening, but no cameras allowed there.  They were very cute.  M counted precisely 279 penguins........  pretty good eyesight, is all I can say!

DAY 23 (17th May):  We waved goodbye to the J's and Melbourne, and set off into the Dandenongs to Puffing Billy.  Now I did not realise that Puffing Billy was any one of about 4 trains!  Our Puffing Billy was the black one.  I think the "classic" Puffing Billy is the green one.  But it was a great day out nonetheless.

 Our Puffing Billy

"All Aboard!"  I think that whenever I say "Smile for a photo" J somehow hears "Make a starfish for a photo".  Go figure.
 Mountain scenery.....

Used to do this on the old Australind from Bunbury  Anyone remember that?  :)  It went a little bit faster though, and I never got any soot in my eyes....

Jenna not so sure... or just being a goof.

The classic bridge - but our train was going backwards!  It was the return journey....

 Puffing Billy's Puff.  TOOooooOOT!

And I'm going to leave that for now, folks.  We're off to Jindabyne tomorrow for 4 nights, so will get myself up to date whilst there, hopefully!

Stay safe

K, P, M & J
